This weekend, we met Bethany, Anna Lei, and Jackson at a lake to feed the ducks (and geese, and fish, and turtles, and Adora). We had a good time walking around the park. (4/26)

Downtown Montgomery has a splash pad, an area that has a bunch of holes in the ground from which water spurts up. Adora went there with some friends Monday and had a blast! (4/27)

The base had a children's party today for kids of SOS students. The first activity was bubble blowing. Adora spent most of the time running away, as usual, but she did enjoy the bubbles for a bit. (4/29)

When we got back from the children's party, she played at the playground outside of our room (that is now cooled with a window AC unit--our room, not the playground). She really enjoyed getting in and out of this car, but she didn't really even try to move it and didn't really like it when I moved it :) (4/29)

What have we been up to lately?

On our drive to Montgomery, we stopped in Shreveport to visit with some friends, and Mom and Jeff drove up to visit with us while we were there! We went to an IMAX (Hurricane on the Bayou) and explored the SciPort a little bit. Adora liked the piano, but I guess 22 pounds isn't enough weight to get the keys to work. (4/11)

Our first week here, we went to the zoo with some new friends we met whose husbands and dads are also going through Squadron Officer School. I think this is Adora's first time on a train. I think she is smiling at Baby Jacob, a little one-month-old who she loves. (4/15)

The base has a ceramics shop. The first full weekend we were here, we went there, picked out a platter, and had Adora paint it for me for Mother's Day. She's so cute in her little apron :) They fired it for us, and Jake went back to glaze it the following weekend. Total cost? $7! (4/18)

The Air Force is funny. One of my friends from Sheppard just moved to Alexander City, AL to wait it out until her husband finds out where his next PCS will be. It's only an hour and 15 minutes from here, so we made the drive for a playdate. Adora had a lot of fun with Kennedy, and they both showed each other how much they've grown since they last saw each other. (4/22)

Our favorite thing so far has been a water/amusement park just outside of Birmingham. We spent hours there this past weekend. Adora loved the water! In typical Adora fashion, she just wanted to explore everywhere alone, so we tried to let her roam while keeping her close so when she faceplanted, we were able to keep her from drowning :) (4/25)

Montgomery!

Here is Adora a few days after her birthday playing with her schoolbus that she got from Parrain & Marrain!

After long travel days with a toddler in the car, and many stops at McDonald's to eat their fantastic fare and indulge in their play areas, we made it to Montgomery Easter Sunday. It's been pretty stressful so far, mostly since Adora seems to have forgotten what little she ever knew about sleeping semi-well. Our efficiency apartment does not help things out. Our bedroom/living area is separated from the bathroom by a walk-through closet, or what I like to call Adora's bedroom. We hung a blanket so she can have a little privacy (haha, just kidding, it's a sound/light barrier). I really hope she'll get used to it here soon. I've been waking up in the mornings mad at the world from lack of sleep, and it would be really nice to at least be in my usual sleep-deprived state instead of this insane up hours each night state.





Before we came here, I used restaurant.com to get some gift certificates to some local restaurants. Montgomery has three restaurants on restaurant.com. I got $10 certificates for $1.20 each! They're usually $3, but they were having a special deal (60% off) if you used a code. Today, we tried Sophia's BBQ Pit. It was a buffet, and the food was decent. The BBQ chicken was good, and so were the baked beans. I wish the buffet had had dessert! We probably won't go back, although who knows, since we now have a coupon, it's a buffet, and it's close.





Other than eating out a few times, we haven't done much. Adora is back to two naps a day since she's barely sleeping at night, and inbetween those times, I've done stuff like trying to find a grocery store and do a load of laundry. Yesterday, Jake worked from 7:00-4:30 with an hour and a half lunch break--sweet! Today, he worked from 7:00-11:30, had to be back at 1:00, came home at 1:45 and just left at 2:45 for a PT test. My hunch is that after he aces the test, he will be done for the day. This desk job thing is pretty nice--for me. I'm sure he's anxious to get back in the jet.

Easter bunny!

Adora was a little afraid of the Easter bunny, or something. She didn't like the Easter bunny holding her, at least! But she LOVED hunting for eggs. She actually found one even before the hunt started, sneaky girl, but I made her put it back. She would put the eggs in her basket and then take them back out because she wanted to hold them. She walked around with one egg in each hand until she found another egg, and then, she tried to pick it up and couldn't, so I helped her put an egg in the basket so she could pick another one up :)

Pneumonia

So, Adora has pneumonia! She started to get sick last Friday and then was pretty much better by Monday and was hit hard again Wednesday night. They took a chest X-ray and think it's pneumonia. She's on some antibiotics and seems to be feeling somewhat better now!

We're leaving next week to go to Maxwell AFB, AL for Jake to do some training for a few weeks. Hopefully we won't go crazy in our studio-style hotel room w/ kitchen.
